Sound the ALARM, this is a Modern Moments FIRST!!! Today, I am featuring the first “guest” party post that was submitted by Amaris. She contacted me a few months ago, eager and excited to plan her son, Bradley’s second birthday party. She wanted to use my Vintage Fire Truck collection, but requested that I design several more items to go along with the theme. She knew exactly what she wanted and was such a pleasure to work with.
I always wonder what my clients do with my designs. I wish I could dedicate more time to post-party follow-up (So, if you have beautiful photos of how you used my designs, please send them to me. I won’t be able to feature everyone’s, but I would like to start including some {real parties} in my posts). Thankfully, Amaris was kind enough to follow up with me and send me photos. When I saw them, I was in shock. It’s such a gratifying feeling to know that someone can take my paper items and create such an amazing party around them. I felt like a proud parent. That may sound silly, but I’m so honored. Thank you Amaris for including “me” in your son’s special day!
Check out all of these awesome photos and read on to get all the details from Amaris (cool name, huh?). . .

Party details as told by Amaris. . .
“The party was a BIG success! I survived….however, it has taken me two weeks to recover. Wow! I didn’t accomplish everything that I had hoped to due to time constraints, but I am very pleased with how everything turned out with Bradley’s vintage fire truck party. (I didn’t get to print the big signs just due to time constraints, but I used the artwork.)
I loved using the antique fire truck theme– I found two different decorative fire trucks at Hobby Lobby and used them for center pieces. I also took inspiration from the colors on the invitation ( she hand delivered several of the invitations to neighbors with Hot Tamales. The box said “Get Fired Up!” Isn’t that so creative?) and used red gingham and teal fabric with coordinating ribbon along with burlap table-toppers, which reminded me of the texture of a fire hose.
The cupcake toppers and favor tags were perfect! I rounded the corners, too just to give them more of softer, vintage feel. I used them everywhere– for cupcake toppers, party favor tags, stickers, and for Bradley’s gifts.
I made two fire hose wreaths for my front door out of a cream colored 25′ garden hose.
Party favors included a fire truck picture book with wheels, a Matchbox fire truck, a flashlight (which every firefighter needs) and Lifesavers. We also had a candy station, which was so much fun! I filled four candy jars with Bradley’s favorite treats and used a red scooper that his Grandmother made in high school. The drink station featured the picture of Bradley’s great-great grandfather driving the fire truck, his antique fire chief badge and a vintage fire extinguisher. The pretzel matches were a huge hit, too! I think they were everyone’s favorite!
The menu (for the adults) included: 2 Alarm Chili and Ham & Turkey Heroes. For the kiddos we had fried chicken bites, veggie “fries” (just carrot and celery stalks in a tiny cup), fruit kabobs, and pita chips with yogurt dip. Cakes & Candles did the cupcakes.
Stephanie Shows, with Doodle Monkeys made the adorable applique fire truck shirt and pants for Bradley to wear to the party. She was really enthusiastic and she went above and beyond to make sure it was perfect!
The firemen from our local fire station brought the big fire truck to our house, gave the children a tour of the truck and gave out badges. It was a HUGE hit! It was such a fun day for Bradley and for our whole family. Bradley is still talking about the party! Although I couldn’t get him to eat a bite of cake, he is still talking about singing happy birthday and blowing out the candles. I have a feeling 2 is going to be so much fun!! Thank you for helping me make it happen! ”

One of these days I am going to be on top of things and list all the Valentine’s Day cards that I’ve designed. Maybe next year! I’m always so behind for holidays. Note to self: Start working on Valentine’s Day cards in December. Can someone remind me? I am always good about doing cards for the boys though. Today, I worked on their Valentine’s Day card. The boys are usually pretty good at appeasing me. Here is a sneak peak of their card.
I can’t wait to show you the whole thing!! 🙂
What do you think??
**As encouraged by The Paper Mama. I am officially throwing my hat in the ring for her Valentine’s Day Card Challenge! Wish me luck!**
It’s Friday(so sue me it’s actually Saturday, but I finally got the post finished)! I’ve been busy the last few weeks working my butt off night and day, day and night trying to get caught up with all my work. If I take a few days off from blogging, or even 10, just know that I am hard at work! Or I could be on vacation, but since that only happens like once a year, it’s a better bet that I’m just too busy to blog. So shoot me an email if you are missing me or leave a comment to send me some love! I’m never too busy to say hi!
I have so many exciting news to share with you! You’re going to have to wait a bit longer (and no I am not pregnant) to find out though! I know, sorry to disappoint you, but I promise you will enjoy these photos none the less. How could you not?
All of you probably are aware of the fact that I LOVE CUPCAKES. Oh, you didn’t know that? Well, actually I am OBSESSED with them. I’m even contemplating getting a tattoo of a cupcake. {What do you think? Lame or cool?} Anyways, I do
It’s only January and I am finished with Skyler and Emerson’s birthday parties (at least until next December, 11 months and counting). Our crazy little Jackson is next in line for the Wilcox birthday extravaganza!!! If you’ve ever heard me talk about Jackson, you are all too familiar with his personality! He goes a little like this. . . he is loud, very loud. He is full of energy and super loving. He is wild and crazy, with an added dose of crazy. He is thoughtful and kind. Bust most of all, he is Jackson.
It was only fitting that we throw him a ROCK STAR birthday party! At three, he already has many characteristics of a rocker. He loves tattoos. He’d have me apply temporary tattoos all day long if I’d let him. Tattoos are definitely a must for a rock star. {Look closely for some faux tattoos on his upcoming invites). He loves women. Don’t get me started on this one. I am going to have my hands full when he is a teenager. What rock star doesn’t love women, right? He loves loud music!!! He is always asking me to turn the music up. He loves to party! If only we could bottle up some of his energy! A definite rocker must!!
I’m currently working on his invite. I am so excited to share it with you, but you are going to have to wait. I’m mean. I know! While you wait, please check out the AMAZING and ADORABLE photos that my friend Courtney shot of Jackson. Courtney has her own photography business, which is appropriately named Courtney Jade Photography. She is also the one who took Emerson’s First Birthday photos that we used on his invitation. She is near and dear to my heart and so are these photos. Courtney does truly amazing work! You’ve got to check out Courtney’s site and make sure you visit her blog too! These invites wouldn’t be the same without the wonderful photos, Courtney!! Thank you so much!!!!
**If you have any suggestions for Rock Star Food, I’d love to hear about it. I am planning on including pop rocks, cake pops, and candy. The color scheme is black, white, teal and Jack’s favorite color PINK!! Anything that would coordinate, would be awesome!
PS- Jackson is planning on marrying Courtney!!! How cute is that? She is amazing with children, if you are ever looking to have your little ones photographed, she’s PERFECT for the job!!
