New Year. . . New Baby
So, I’ve been MIA, but for good reason, I promise. Work has been crazy busy (remember you can always find me blogging for Hostess with the Mostess blog weekly, on pinterest, and on Facebook), I had two December birthday parties to plan, Christmas/Holiday cards to design, and everything else that comes with the holiday season. My poor blog suffers, I know! I am trying to make it my New Years resolution (though I don’t really believe in them) to blog more. Something entirely do-able, like once a week.
I’ve also had another good reason to be MIA. I am proud to OFFICIALLY announce that we (and when I say “we” you know I’M the one not sleeping, battling morning sickness, weight gain, and everything else, but my hubby deserves some credit, right?) are just over 12 weeks pregnant with our fourth child. As many of you know, we already have 3 amazing boys. Everyone keeps speculating whether we are having another boy, or alas that elusive little girl. Frankly, I’m not very patient so, as soon as I can find out what we are having, I will let you all know!!!
I can’t ever do anything easy and that goes for announcing to our friends and family that we are expecting again. I found a couple good ideas on pinterest and adapted them for our situation. I used the film strip wedding invitation and this film strip style baby announcement. Just minutes after I took a pregnancy test, I made the boys pose for pictures. Yes, Jackson is holding the “pee stick” in the one photo. His face cracks me up! Let me know what you think? It was super cheap to do and everyone seemed to really enjoy opening them!
Just a side note, I went to the photo center at Costco and asked for their empty film canisters. I used a bottle opener and carefully pried off the bottom. You can also buy empty fill canisters that you have to assemble.
Happy New Year! I hope to “see” you all more this year!!!!

Congratulations!!!! And those are the cutest announcements EVER!!!
Congrats on #4! Love the way you guys announced your pregnancy. LOL, makes me want to have one just to announce it like you did! 😀
Congratulations, what a beautiful way to share your wonderful news! Love it!
Trying to work out how you did this..did you print the photos, roll up and insert? Did you have to go somewhere to have the photos printed like that? Sorry if the questions seem dumb but I really like idea and was curious how to do it.
Hey Rebecca!
So, I used a bottle opener, pried off the bottom. Once you pry off the bottom, you have the bottom, the outer canister, and then the inside spindle. Mine still had a tad bit of film attached too. I had the pictures printed and then cut them with my paper cutter. Once they were cut, I taped them to the remaining piece of film or you could wrap it around the spindle and then tape it. Wind it around the spindle, leave some of it hanging out of the canister so people can pull, and then put the bottom back on. Hope that helps!!!
Congratulations!!! Super love the announcement!
Congratulations on the expected little one! Those film canister / film strip announcements are so clever and cute!
Thank you all for the Congratulations!!!! We are super excited and a bit CRAZY!!!! I am throwing a gender reveal party on Feb. 15th, so stay tuned!!!!
I just stumbled onto your site. First off Congrats on the addition to your family. Babies are amazing and we have been trying for #2 for 2 years now.
I am amazed by your idea! I am always looking for above and beyond ideas and this is it for my son’s birthday invites this year. One question? how long x wide was your picture strip/film?
Thanks so much!! Babies are amazing, it’s just sad they don’t stay that way for very long!! I wish you the best of luck with getting pregnant. I know how hard that can be! I will have to look up the size. I took a film case apart and measured the inside spindle and then the length doesn’t matter. I can check the size tomorrow if you still need it! Just email me at printsbymodernmoments@gmail.com
I’m sure I can figure it out once I actually get a canister. Just thought about it and it can be any length huh? 🙂 Thanks.
Is your due date 7/12? I see that date on the film strip. If so, that’s my birthday. 🙂
Yes! It is 7/12 or 7/13! You could share a birthday, but for my sake I hope it’s a but before!!!
Oh my goodness. I found you via hostess with the mostess and am just in awe. I aspire to have a tenth of the creativity you have! Love this announcement idea and a belated congratulations! I will be following your blog from now on!
