Thanksgiving will be here before we know it. Many people take pride in setting a beautiful dinner table for the holidays, even if it’s just once a year. A great way to add a little bit of personalization and “wow” factor is to include place cards. These Simple Place Cards for Thanksgiving are the perfect addition to any place setting. You can use place cards to let your guests know where you’d like them to sit for dinner. Or are you always getting asked, “What’s this?” at dinner time? Well, you can also use place cards to indicate what you are serving too. This will help eliminate some confusion surrounding those “mystery” dishes.
I’ve included two types of place cards. One will be your standard tent folded place card. These are the more traditional style place card and super easy to make. In your Silhouette Studio software, draw a rectangle that is 4″ tall and 3″ wide. This card will be folded in half, so you will want to keep your design 2″ tall x 3″ wide. This is super simple. Just take your favorite shape and place it where ever you’d like to see the shape removed. I used the 3 Leaves shape and the feather set for my project. I also printed my guest’s names on my card stock first, printing it out with registration-marks. If you have beautiful penmanship, this step can be skipped and you can do this after you are done cutting your place cards out.
The second style of place cards I created are a little less traditional. Again, I used the 3 Leaves shape that can be purchased in the Silhouette Store. I followed the same process by printing out my guest’s names and then cutting them out. This time, I wanted them to be a little more colorful so I added some distressing ink and water to the outer edge.
Both of these place cards only take a few minutes to make, but make a huge statement. I’d love to know which one is your favorite? Do you plan on creating these for your Thanksgiving dinner?
Thanks,
