St. Patrick’s Day is one of my favorite holidays. I have no idea if I have any Irish running through my blood, but on March 17th, everyone’s Irish in my book! There’s just something fun about this holiday. Everyone gets to dress in green in hopes of not getting pinched. We get to eat yummy food like corned beef and cabbage and Irish soda bread to name a few. We also get to party! It’s fun to decorate with rainbows, pots of gold, and shamrocks.  I’m excited to share with you some fun St. Patrick’s Day Ideas and how I incorporated Oriental Trading products into my designs.

With St. Patrick’s Day right around the corner, I reached out to Oriental Trading to see if I could review some of their products. They were kind enough to oblige and I picked out some really fun products that I’m going to share with you! You can use these ideas and apply them to any holiday or party theme. I just wanted to show you what it possible with Oriental Trading and a bit of creativity.

These Small Favor Tubes are not specifically for St. Patrick’s Day, but I thought they would be fun to add to this shoot. Simply add in some Shimmery Summer Spring Sixlets or other small candies to these tubes and seal with a fun festive label. These would make really fun classroom favors or party favors. They were really easy to fill and they are well constructed. I accidentally dropped a handful of them and there was only minor damage done to a few of my candies. I would love to hear what creative ideas you might have for these Small Favor Tubes. Everything looks cuter in packaging!

St. Patrick's Day Ideas | by Jessica Wilcox of Modern Moments Designs | www.modernmomentsdesigns.comA party isn’t complete without cupcakes! I mean there is always a place for cupcakes (and donuts)! I designed these festive and fun cupcake toppers or party circles to accompany this collection. These are available in my shop, if you want to check them out! These can be used in cupcakes or throughout your party! We even used them in our St. Patrick’s Day Muddy Buddy mix that we piled high in these darling Mini Goldtone Pails.  The Mini Goldtone Pails were just the perfect size for an individual serving of your favorite tasty treat or to fill with other party favors.

These Mini Goldtone Pails were one of my favorite products and I thought they would be perfect filled with ice cream too. I wasn’t sure if they were food safe (for something that would melt everywhere), so I dropped in a parchment cupcake liner. This worked perfectly and made cleanup super easy too. I was able to place 2 scoops of ice cream in the Mini Goldtone Pails and topped them with Rainbow Nerds and added a cute party circle and mini spoon.

I am a huge fan of stir sticks or really any fun garnish you can add to your beverage. I just couldn’t resist these Shamrock Stir Sticks. Look at how darling they are. I used these a couple different ways too. Obviously, you can just throw one of these darling stir sticks right into your drink and call it good, but I took it a step further and added a fun little straw flag to make them even more festive. I also took them and cut off the bottom portion of the stick and put them in my cupcakes. They are darling both ways if you ask me.

Another fun product I was excited to review was the Mini Shamrock Mugs. I wasn’t sure what I was going to do with them, but I am a sucker for anything “mini.” I don’t know if that is a girl thing or I am just crazy, but everything is always cuter in the mini form. These Mini Shamrock Mugs were no exception. Who doesn’t love Milk and Cookie shooters? I know I do! I just filled these little mugs up with ice cold milk and topped them with a Trader Joe’s JoJo Cookie (or you could use Oreos). If you are having a more adult party, you could fill them with something like Bailey’s Irish Cream. Either way, they are too cute to pass up!

Popcorn is a simple and easy treat to include in any party. Using popcorn as a base and adding in toppings to match your party theme allows you endless possibilities. Plus, popcorn is inexpensive and really quick to make. And who doesn’t love popcorn? For this little treat, we used the Mini Lime Green Popcorn Boxes and I must say, I just adore them. They are really easy to work with. They are even easier to store. Quick tip: I always have extra items after each party and I have a party supply “closet” of sorts. I try to “shop” in my own closet before I purchase things for a party. Since these little boxes come flat, it makes them really easy to store and save for future projects. Also, I love how the outside is a bit glossy or coated. They just look so polished. In fact, they are just the right size for little hands too. I want to buy these in every colorway!

Our Magically Delicious Popcorn recipe is super simple. Pop your popcorn. I did 1/2 cup of popcorn kernels. You can also use microwave or for some added flavor, a kettle corn flavor or similar. I don’t think you can go wrong and feel free to experiment. I bought a couple of boxes of Lucky Charms Cereal (regular and their limited edition clover one) and I picked out a few cups of marshmallows. It seems like the Limited Edition Clover box had more marshmallows. I think you can buy bags of just marshmallows on Amazon if you don’t have the patience to pick them out. I placed the popped popcorn on a piece of parchment paper. Then melted 1 cup of white melting chocolate. I simply drizzled the popcorn with the melted chocolate and sprinkled the marshmallows on top and let the chocolate harden. This popcorn was good, but I think if I had mixed in some cake batter or a little something extra it would have been more flavorful. However, it looked magical!

I always try to include a mini sign or two in all of my collections. These Ikea Tolsby frames come in several colors, or white is nice too. I thought this saying was perfect, “May Your Day be Touched by a bit of Irish Luck.” I am always happy to accept some Irish Luck whenever I can get it. These mini signs are just an easy and fun addition to any party.

Oriental Trading is synonyms with party favors. We use to received their catalog when I was a kid and I loved flipping through the pages. It was a ton of fun to select  St. Patrick’s Day party favors to review and use throughout my designs.

You know I am obsessed with tattoos. I selected two different tattoos. The first was these ridiculously cute Orange & Green Fingerstache Tattoos. Though they were a little big for Kennedy (she is 3.5 years old), I think they would fit perfectly on older kids and adults alike. They are super fun though.  Check out Kennedy doing her best to model one.

Glitter should have been my middle name. Just about everything looks better with glitter and tattoos are no exception. Though these are not your typical tattoo.  These Glitter Shamrock Tattoos are more like a hybrid between a sticker + a tattoo. I had to consult the website to make sure I was applying them correctly. Just a tip, no WATER is necessary! Haha! You simply peel them and place them on your body. They stay on really well too. The first photo is of my hand and the next photo is Kennedy’s hand (remember she is 3.5 years old so you have perspective on the size).

Since we are talking about glitter, I have to show you these darling Gold Glitter Favor Boxes. They are mini and cute! I read through some of the reviews on these and people were disappointed that they are so small. I think you just need to get creative with them. I don’t know if I would use them as a “favor box” per say, but they would look incredible at a place setting. Imagine your guests name attached to these as a hang tag.  You could add one or two small candies or even any of the tattoos I listed above. Just know, they don’t have a large capacity. Think of a few small candies and you won’t be disappointed. I even thought they looked darling with a Shamrock Ring attached. They do require some assembly, but they are super simple to put together. I just think they are darling.

Speaking of Shamrock Rings, these are too cute. They are just super simple little shamrock shaped rings. I thought they looked really fun overflowing out of the Black Candy Kettles.  They are the perfect little wearable favor. They were also a really fun photo prop that I used throughout my shoot. I just love them!

Wearable favors are another thing I strive to have at my parties. Whether it is a VIP pass that they hang around your guests’ neck, a unicorn headband, or stylish jewelry, wearable party favors are fun to incorporate. They also help “spread” your theme and act as moving party decor once all of your guests start wearing them. These St. Patrick’s Day Cutout Shamrock Bracelets were another fun addition. I will say I wish they were not so “bent” for a lack of a better word. Maybe they just needed to be removed from their packaging for awhile so they could retain their round shape. They were also too big for Kennedy. They would be perfect for adults and older kids though. Wear these fun St. Patrick’s Day Shamrock Cutout Bracelets so you don’t get pinched! They are fun and flexible and you can layer several of them and give them to your friends who need pinch protection too.

Lastly, my kids always love slappy hands. In this case, they were Sticky Shamrocks on a String. The kids had the best time playing with these and getting them stuck to our ceiling. I don’t know why kids think these are so fun, but without fail, they always love slappy hands. These would make a great classroom favor because 6 dozen come in a bag. They are vibrant and fun and super sticky!
